What is Excavator Demolition Grapple & How Does It Work?
RAY demolition grapples are essential attachments in the construction and demolition industries. Designed to handle heavy-duty tasks like sorting, grabbing, and tearing down structures, these grapples boost both efficiency and safety on the job site.
It acts like a powerful claw or hand, allowing the operator to grip, lift, sort, and demolish various materials such as concrete, brick, wood, scrap metal, and more. It is widely used in building demolition, waste handling, recycling, and material sorting.
Key Features and Advantages
Heavy-Duty Construction
Demolition grapples are made with high-strength wear-resistant material-Hardox blades NM400 claws standard(Hardox450 claws optional)to withstand harsh conditions and repeated impacts.
Strong Gripping Power
Parker motor ensures consistent power for demanding tasks like building demolition and debris sorting. With high clamping force and precision, the grapple can firmly hold irregularly shaped or heavy materials.
360° Rotation
All models come with a hydraulic rotator for full 360° rotation, allowing better control and positioning.
Variety of European connection frames available
It supports multiple connection types—including Standard, MS, and CW systems—commonly used across European markets.
Common Applications
- Demolition of buildings and concrete structures
- Material sorting and loading (recycling stations, transfer yards)
- Wood and log handling in forestry
- Scrap metal processing
- Stone and rock handling in landscaping or construction

Demolition Grapple
According to your work scenario and purpose
There are several types of demolition grapples available, depending on the task:
- Standard: For general tasks like demolition, sorting, and bulk loading—suitable for everyday construction use.
- Base Plat Version: Handles mixed materials effectively by gripping and crushing large and small debris at once.
- Serrated Side Panels Version: Improves grip on logs, stones, and irregular items—reduces slippage and boosts control.
- Fully Enclosed Shell Version: Ideal for fine materials like sand or gravel—prevents spillage during handling.
- Tooth-Equipped Blade Version: Crushes tough materials like concrete and ceramics—perfect for heavy-duty demolition.
How to operate and maintain?
For dismounting the grapple follow below mentioned procedures:
- Make sure that ground is stable and flat.
- Place grab on ground with shells completely open.
- Never lay grab on ground with shells open!
Limitations of use of the equipment
- Never abrupt change rotation direction. This will damage hydraulic motor.
- Never use rotation when the grab is taking up material.
- Never use grab as lever.
- Never use grab for compacting.
- Never use grab to pull or push heavy loads (f. e. waggons etc.).
- Never use grab to open an object.
